One of the great things about computer-based music is its accessability. Anyone with a computer can experiment and play. Not everyone will become a great artist but that's beside the point. Making music with whatever instrument is fun and rewarding in many ways even if no-one else ever hears it!\n\nStartingOut\n

You will be able to sell CD's etc either in the bookshop in the foyer of the ICA or at a table that hasn't been organised yet. If you're on our mailing list as a performer, you'll be notified of what to do to get your items on sale.

You can go out and buy a computer, recording software (say Pro Tools, Sountrack Pro or the like), loop-based music software (eg Ableton Live), and/or something to record and tweak MIDI instruments such as keyboards (Logic, Cubase).\n\nAnother alternative is to use the Linux operating system. This will cost you a lot less money but will, even if you are already know Unix or Linux, cost you some more time. Here is a link for an article written by me on the subject a couple of years ago. http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2004/06/24/linux_semipro_studio.html?page=2\n
PA slot times (playing in front of an audience) will have mostly been worked out prior to performance day. We try to keep slots open on the day so that last minute appearances can be accomodated but there's no guarantee! So, to be safe, let us know if you want to play beforehand and we'll work things out. At this stage (25 June 06) we haven't laid anything out but there are already seven artists booked so we will be doing a rough list soon.\n\nThe overall run of the day looks like this ...\nDoors open to the Bleepfest 2pm - ends at 6.30pm\nDJ in the bar from 7pm - midnight\nSet up for theatre - 7pm - 8pm\nDoors open 8pm - gig ends 10pm\n
